The Vault

Your heart is in an extremely secure location. So secure that

nothing gets in, and nothing gets out.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Here's the thing about a vault. It has a door.

And you're the one holding the combination.

You didn't wake up one morning and decide to lock everything down. You built this over years, and you built it because it worked. Something happened, probably more than once, and your body learned that keeping people at a distance hurt less than letting them close. That was a sensible conclusion. It kept you upright.

The trouble is that a vault doesn't sort its contents. It holds out the men who would have disappointed you, and it holds out the ones who wouldn't have. It can't tell the difference, because it was never built to.

WHAT I WANT YOU TO KNOW

You have not missed your window.

You've gotten very, very good at keeping your heart safe. That's a skill. It is not a flaw, and it is not a verdict on how this turns out for you.

Here's what most women in your position don't realize. The combination isn't a feeling you have to summon on the right day with the right man. It's a physical skill, and it can be built.

Your nervous system decides whether someone is safe long before your thinking brain forms a sentence about it, and it makes that call based on what happened to you before. Change what your body does, and the door starts opening on its own.

You don't have to fling it wide. You only have to be able to open it when you want to.

WHEN YOU'RE READY

Nothing here asks you to fling the door open.

The next cohort of Simply Irresistible is fifteen women,
